Request an AppointmentWHAT ARE COMPOUNDED MEDICATIONS?
Often in dermatology, the best medication for a patient is not commercially available at the right strength or combination. In addition, the cost of prescriptions is increasing because of the structure of insurance plans. To help combat these costs, Dr. Mann and our PAs work with a national FDA-Registered 503B Outsourcing Facility to customize private-label medications we dispense directly from the office.
Unlike typical retail pharmacy medications, our compounded formulations are prepared to precise specifications — combining multiple prescription-strength active ingredients in one preparation, at custom strengths, and without the unnecessary inactive ingredients (preservatives, dyes, fragrances, and allergens) found in most commercial creams. Our formulations are paraben-free, dye-free, and fragrance-free.
Our compounded medications are manufactured in an FDA-Registered 503B Outsourcing Facility under strict Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations — the same standards required of major pharmaceutical manufacturers — ensuring safety, potency, and consistency with every preparation.
WHY WE OFFER COMPOUNDED MEDICATIONS — 5 REASONS
EFFICACY
Our goal is to provide a customized regimen that delivers results. This often requires combining several medications. Sometimes we incorporate an off-label ingredient because of its effectiveness, or choose a stronger dose not commercially available. Our private-label formulations provide an effective and unique combination of active ingredients that does not exist in retail pharmacy.
REDUCE SIDE EFFECTS
93% of prescription creams contain preservatives, dyes, irritants, and allergens that can bother sensitive skin. Our compounded formulations are paraben-free, dye-free, and fragrance-free. We customize preparations with active ingredients such as niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to make them gentler and more tolerable for your skin.
COST
Most of our compounded medications are between $30–$80 — often less than the average copay, especially when our single formulation equates to 2–3 separate prescriptions from your local pharmacy. Brand-name dermatology medications can cost hundreds of dollars and are frequently not covered by insurance. Our compounded preparations offer the most effective ingredients at a fraction of the cost.
ACCESS
All patients deserve equal access to effective medication regardless of their insurance coverage. Certain dermatology medications are often not covered, or insurance formularies require a less effective medication first. Our private-label compounded medications eliminate these hurdles — you get the right medication at the right time.
CONVENIENCE
Insurance often requires prior authorization which can take weeks — delaying your treatment. Instead of waiting in a pharmacy line, get your prescription-strength medication in our office during your next visit. Our patients love the convenience of leaving with the right medication for their condition, saving time and money.
